COMMON SENSE is a London-based collective founded by Kanako Shiraishi and Rina Sakurai.

The collective grew out of our postgraduate research into kanjinshugi (relational humanism), a concept that explores how people are shaped through their relationships with others. While researching Japanese communities and cultural identity, we became increasingly interested in the connections that emerge between people, ideas, and places, and in how those connections continue to shape the present.

That curiosity became COMMON SENSE.

Today, we explore contemporary culture through publishing, exhibitions, and conversations. Rather than presenting fixed conclusions, we create opportunities for people from different backgrounds and disciplines to meet, collaborate, and exchange perspectives.

We hope to build meaningful relationships in many different forms, and to continue creating projects together with artists, writers, researchers, and communities. Each collaboration becomes part of an evolving archive of the present, preserving conversations and connections that might otherwise be lost.
